Today’s devotional is from the Book of Ruth 3:6-13.

How was Ruth able to have so much favor with Boaz? Her character which does not seek self interest seeking the Lord, and that which reflects a spirit of excellence. These qualities both come from the spirit of humility where the Lord pours more grace and favor. (ref James 4:6) Boaz here is a reflection of Jesus who gives more grace through our humble attitude.

How is our attitude compared to Ruth’s? Do we choose to stay humble before the Lord seeking His guidance?

How is His humility taught in the Scriptures? His humility is not about denigrating ourselves compared to those around us but rather about submitting ourselves before the Almighty God. We see men of God in multiple verses in the bible that proclaimed that they were the head and not the tail. (ref Numbers 12:3, 1 Corinthians 15:10, Deuteronomy 28:13) It is about aligning ourselves with how God sees us.

Then how can we gain more favor with men to see more doors open just like Ruth? Male and female were created in the image of God, (ref Genesis 1:27) which means that the way we gain favor with men should be to humble ourselves before the Almighty God.

Today, let us continue to fear the Almighty God before Whom we humble ourselves. And we will experience more grace and favor not only from the Lord but also from men.

May the Lord richly bless you today!
