Today’s devotional is from the Book of Ruth 1:14-18.

We all want Ruth in our lives who remains loyal no matter what the circumstances we are in, especially when we feel the need for love and encouragement. But how come we still don’t have Ruth in our lives? What keeps us from experiencing Ruth?

What we should begin working on is to become Ruth ourselves. Whatever we give we shall receive abundantly. (ref Luke 6:38) But the important question to ask here is - what keeps us from becoming Ruth ourselves?

Appreciation - are we appreciative of the people around us such as our spouse, children, parents etc.? If we are angry or frustrated because of them, the very first thing we can do is to give thanks to the Lord that He has sent us those people that frustrate us. (ref Philipians 4:6-7)

Today, let us begin by giving thanks to the Lord as we pray thanking Him for having sent the people around us. Then the peace that surpasses our understanding will fill our hearts with peace. We can then become the loyal Ruth ourselves.

May God richly bless you today!
